
Details of the settlement were due to be published last week, but thiswas delayed so a number of adjustments could be made.
A spokesman for the Department for Communities and Local Governmentconceded the settlement will be "marginally" later than previous yearsbut denied it has been delayed, saying a date for publication had neverbeen set.
In previous years the settlement has been published in late November orthe first week of December.
Andrew Webb, director of children's services at Stockport Council, saidit is important in a climate of cuts that authorities are informed assoon as possible of their likely budgets. If 100 or more redundanciesneed to be made, consultation periods must start at least 90 days beforeany dismissals take effect.
