1 min read Youth Work
Campaigns calling for investment in young people's services and encouraging charities to have young board members are among the annual priorities chosen by the British Youth Council's (BYC) members.

Having taken a vote earlier this month, the organisation, which is ledby young people aged 25 and under, has chosen to back Save our YouthServices, a campaign which will lobby against cuts, call for all youngpeople's services to be well-funded, and for existing youth services totake priority over new initiatives.

The motion was put forward by 17-year-old council member Dara Farrellwho said: "We are already called the lost generation and these cuts willonly increase negative statistics about young people. It is importantfor BYC to defend these services because young people need this vitalwork which often goes unrecognised."

The young people also supported a motion calling on all charities andprojects working with young people, to involve them in boardroommeetings as one of its four priorities.
