Pupils do not learn parenting in school and yet it could be the most responsible job they ever have to do. Parents are increasingly being blamed for raising a generation of ill-mannered and overweight children.
So the Government is taking the issue seriously and last week launched a 201-page report on parental support. It summarises 14 pieces of research that were funded by the Department of Health. The aim of the research was to find out what problems parents were having and what type of help was effective.
Parents say that they want people to pay attention to the realities of their lives rather than services' agendas.
