But you can leave the room. What about real overcrowding? There are twodifferent measures set out in the Housing Act 1995. If a male and femaleover the age of 12 who are not living together as husband and wife haveto sleep in a single room, that breaches the room standard forovercrowding.
The space standard specifies the size that the room used for sleepingshould be; for instance, a room for two should be at least 10.2 squaremetres - though for that measure, children under 10 count as only half aperson and babies don't count at all.
