What do ombudsmen/women/persons do? In a completely gender-neutral way,the term is ombudsmen. They handle complaints about public services.
And who are they? The current public sector ombudsmen in England are theparliamentary ombudsman, the health service ombudsman and three localgovernment ombudsmen. The parliamentary ombudsman deals with centralgovernment departments and agencies and certain non-departmental publicbodies; the health service ombudsman with the National Health Service;and the local government ombudsmen with local authorities and some otherlocal service providers including schools.
