What's this from the Crown Prosecution Service? It's a charter forchildren who, as victims or witnesses, come into contact with thecourts.
It's written for them, their parents or carers, and those who work withthem. And the CPS is asking people to comment on it.
Is it child-friendly? It's written in clear, jargon-free English. TheCPS should apply the principles in this charter to everyone under theage of 18. The charter itself refers to the UN Convention on the Rightsof the Child; in particular, articles 3 (best interests of the child),12 (the need to listen to and take into account the views of the child)and 40 (the right to legal help and fair treatment).
