How does the philosophy work in practice? The nursery is broken up into separate rooms for children of different ages, and for each room there is a line manager responsible for budgeting what is required for that room. The staff are not only responsible for purchasing any required resources for their rooms, but are also expected to be self-managed - making changes when they are required and contributing new ideas and strategies to improve the setting.
