Being a youth mayor was always something I found prestigious and worthwhile, which makes me wonder why there aren't more around the country. I took up this role in order to find new experiences and challenges, but most importantly to represent the young people of my town, Worthing.
I recently attended the remembrance service held at the war memorial that was erected for the men who lost their lives in World War One and is a symbol for those people who have, and continue to, pay the ultimate sacrifice in past and present conflicts. Young people may be too young to remember but we will never be too old to forget the price others pay for us.
