Young people were asked to nominate other young people for their work in creating community cohesion, especially as segments of our town suffer from a lot of racial tension. The awards were to highlight their achievements.
I took part in the after-school steering committee meetings with the equality council.
I am now team leader for the committee, and have gained a lot of skills from the experience.
I have also picked up a sense of giving something back to the community.
