Behind the Inspection Rating: Safety key for teen parent nursery

B2b+ (Bump to baby plus) is not your average nursery. In fact it's a teenage parents project that also offers childcare. But while its underlying aim is to help Sunderland teens enhance their parenting skills and career prospects, it is its early years provision that has bowled over Ofsted, which has just rated it "outstanding".

Last time Ofsted visited it gave B2b+ a "good" rating. Nursery manager Tracy Rawding says one of the big improvements since the 2009 inspection is in the project's safeguarding policies. These include a "no mobiles" rule that Ofsted's inspector found were "adhered to rigorously", not least because she fell foul of it during the inspection.
