1 min read
NCH is to start mentoring programmes at four locations around the UK to support children with behavioural problems.

The charity has teamed up with mentoring specialists Chance UK to offerthe scheme, which will operate in Crawley in Sussex, Liverpool,Londonderry and Inverness. The initiative expands on Chance UK'sexisting mentoring programmes in the London boroughs of Islington andHackney. The locations were chosen to ensure a geographical spread aswell as a variety of locations. Northern Ireland, for example, waschosen because of its history of social division.

In each area, 10 to 15 volunteer mentors will be asked to commit tomentoring a child aged five to 11 for one year. They will have two tothree hours contact per week.

Chance UK is providing 90,000 to fund the programme.
