I've been reading a lot about young carers recently. It started when Iwas passing through our local library and spotted a flyer whichintriguingly stated: "Please can Chloe come to school today as she'sfeeling very tired?" I decided to have a look and it made for soberingreading.
There are around 175,000 young carers in the UK and their average age is12. These are shocking statistics. Young carers typically look afterparents or other family members who are sick or disabled. They are oftenterrified to tell anyone or ask for help in case their family is splitup.
Being a young carer can include cooking, cleaning, looking aftersiblings and bathing. It can mean they don't have the chance to enjoytheir childhood like other children.
