I try really hard to stay away from reality shows like Big Brother orThe X Factor - but not so my mum. At 75 she's in there with Makosi,Sharon Osbourne, Simon Cowell et al and can tell you a thing or twoabout their private lives, which she reads with relish in the Sundaypapers, all the time muttering "Filth!"
When I visit her there is no escape, and of course one episode andyou're hooked. I secretly love it though, and I sneakily read the sameSunday trash as her online while buying a more liberal broadsheet. Whata hypocrite.
I hadn't really realised the impact of shows on children though, until Iwas doing one of my retail therapy trips into town the other day.
