Claire points out that looked-after children need confidentiality too.

I work for an organisation that is contracted to provide alternativeactivities for looked-after children and young people. When you're notstrictly part of "the department" it is essential to get on-side withsocial workers and foster carers.

Why? Because all kind of suspicions abound around what you're doing -especially if your service has a confidentiality policy that differsfrom theirs, but still upholds child protection.

I remember hearing a speaker referring to children in local authoritycare as public property in terms of how information was unnecessarilybandied around, and I agree.

Before Angry of Tunbridge Wells takes pen to paper to complain aboutwhat I'm saying (if they're not too busy campaigning about Ann Summers -trust me, it'll change your life) let me give an example. And I'm nottalking about everyone - but it does happen.
