A while ago I wrote about Band Aid 20 and pondered the meaning of giving in this day and age, when we're all so obsessed with labels and gadgets. It made me wonder whether our children today would have reacted in the same way as they did then, and I was pretty sceptical. Little did I know how quickly I'd eat my words.
A couple of weeks later the world was shattered by the effects of the Asian tsunami. We all reeled at the horror of it and the stories of all of the thousands and thousands of children and adults killed. People who lived in the areas affected who had literally lost everything. Families from across the globe in search of a bit of sun, a well-deserved holiday.
