I could have taken my laptop down to the local Starbucks, enjoyed a nice cappuccino and a cake while writing this week's column and then emailed it off to Young People Now without even having to leave my seat.
It's all possible thanks to wireless internet. Wi-fi, or wireless fidelity to give it its full name, enables anyone with a wireless-enabled laptop computer to connect to the internet through a wi-fi hot spot, which are popping up in many coffee shops, railway stations and even in one or two youth centres.
This week, we joined the wi-fi revolution when we switched on our first hot spot. Unlike those you will find in commercial venues that can cost anything up to 5 an hour, access to the internet via our hot spot is free. And we'll even lend you the laptop.
