A lollipop man went beyond his official duties to help children cross roads safely. So he's been sacked.

The Mirror reported that an ex-RAF officer, 60-year-old Michael Hunt, has been suspended for helping children over a busy road. He wasemployed to help primary school children cross one road of a T-junctionin Marown, Isle of Man. But he has taken to helping those who arestruggling to cross the other adjacent road too.

Officials told him to stop helping on this second road. Why? It's toodangerous.

Isle of Man transport officials said that the second crossing did notmeet safety requirements.

The answer is for children to continue to cross by themselves. Hunt toldThe Mirror: "The politest thing I can say is that it is a load of horsemanure."
