- Nearly 1.5m has been shelled out in compensation to pupils for injuries that took place in Northern Ireland's schools over the last five years, the Belfast Telegraph reported.

And how much compensation was paid to teachers for similar injuries?Nearly 270,000 was the total paid to teachers as the result ofaccidents while on duty. An additional 8,000 was paid to teachersfor injuries received following assaults on duty.

So it is worth noting that, in the province at least, injuries toteachers through accidents massively outweigh injuries from assaultsthey endure.

- But be warned. Northern Ireland is in many ways different from otherparts of the UK. Gregory Campbell was moved to ask a parliamentaryquestion about how many people in Northern Ireland breached anti-socialbehaviour orders last year.

David Hanson, minister of state, replied: Two. That's good. Or is itbad? Hard to tell.
