An inquest jury has decided that the death in 2002 of a two year old was an accident caused by neglect.

Abigail Rae had wandered off from the Ready Teddy Go nursery in LowerBrailes, Warwickshire.

She was found drowned in nearby garden pond.

In the reports of the distressing story one detail stood out. The Timesreported: "Clive Peachy, a bricklayer, had said that he passed a toddlerbut did not stop, fearing people might think that he was trying toabduct her."

The inquest coroner said in his summing-up: "This is perhaps a sadreflection on our society but you may well understand thecircumstances."

As a reflection on the need to re-think what child protection actuallymeans, it speaks for itself.

- Adoption and abortion are the same.

Except, that is, for two keystrokes.
