What does the job involve? We are piloting two youth inclusion and support panels for the Youth Justice Board and we have also got a third in place.
I have responsibility for the panels and for a prevention team, one of only a few across the country.
Who do you work with? Our target group is eight- to 13-year-olds. We want to get in there before they embark on a criminal career. We will take referrals from schools, from education and social workers, from police officers, parents and young people themselves who come forward and want some support - the full range really. We do an assessment to identify areas of risk, and then we work in partnership with the family to develop a support plan for them. Where it is appropriate, we signpost them to the most relevant service, and monitor whether they are getting the service that they need.
