Autistic children excluded in class

Education
Teachers lack the skills needed to provide autistic children and young people with an inclusive education in mainstream schools according to research by autism research charity Treehouse.

The Improving Inclusion: Getting inclusive education right for children with autism study found many schools are unable to manage behaviour of autistic children and do little to prevent autism-specific bullying.

The charity is now calling on the government to develop minimum standards for the education of autistic children in England.

They also want regular autism training for all school staff and have called on Ofsted to focus on special educational needs provision in school inspections.
