Q: An evangelical church group has moved next door to our club. It is friendly enough but it is trying to canvass our young people to attend its classes and sessions. I am worried the young people are being conned into attending a church when all they want is a bit of fun. I am also worried we won't have any members left. It feels a bit like a competition.
Children and young people are inquisitive and will always want to investigate what's new and unknown. You can't blame them for wanting to check out what's on offer next door. There may be activities that overlap with what you are doing, but young people are generally perceptive and my guess is they will be able to distinguish between these activities and those of a religious nature, and then make up their own minds.
