ARTS: Chicken Shed cuts jobs to save funds

The London-based youth theatre company is in the grip of a funding shortfall caused partly by the poor performance on the stock market of its donors.

Martyn Holland, trusts and foundations manager, said: "We are one of the only theatres in London that completely fails to attract a subsidy from the Arts Council. This is a bone of contention and the problem seems to rest with our refusal to label ourselves in conventional ways."
