The event was for young people on the Get Ahead Artist Development Programme, a 10-day intensive performing arts project for young people in east London. It was aimed at young people with a talent for singing, songwriting, music, dancing and comedy. The masterclass took place to celebrate the 9bn that the National Lottery has invested in children and young people since 1994 - Hackney Empire itself has received more than 13m in National Lottery funding.
