The case is one of 14 in the file where children with neurologicaldisorders, including Asperger Syndrome, Tourette's Syndrome andAttention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, have been issued withAsbos.
A group of anti-Asbo campaigners, including the Children's RightsAlliance for England, Asbo Concern and Liberty, presented the dossier tothe Home Office last Wednesday.
They said the cases showed the orders were being used inappropriatelyamid growing concern that local authorities are pushing ahead with Asboswithout full knowledge of a child's medical history (Children Now, 13-19July).
"We want Asbos scrapped for children," said Louise King, senior policyofficer at the Children's Rights Alliance for England.
However, a Home Office spokeswoman said when local authorities appliedfor Asbos against 10- to 17-year-olds there should be a full assessmentof their circumstances.
