The plight of more than 15,000 children aged under 16 who are forced to leave home each year is highlighted today by the launch of The Children's Society's Safe and Sound campaign. It calls on the Government to make England a safer place for young runaways and is the latest in a series of campaigns by the charity highlighting the plight of vulnerable children.
But behind the scenes, The Children's Society is once again undergoing major structural change: the talk is of redundancies and refocusing. Does this reflect a shift from service delivery to campaigning, and is more downsizing to come, or is it all part of the charity's zeal to ensure it continues to make a difference to children in need?
