This year's Holocaust Memorial Day may well be remembered for the wrong reasons - Prince Harry's now infamous swastika gaffe and a BBC poll showing that 60 per cent of under-35s have never heard of Auschwitz.
The outcry over Prince Harry reveals that the horrors of the Second World War remain deeply felt. But knowledge of the Holocaust and its meaning appears to be patchy, especially among young people.
Lessons to learn
Kate Andrews, Lesson from Auschwitz co-ordinator at the Holocaust Educational Trust, says: "In some schools, my visit is often the first time they've heard of it. Although it is in the curriculum, it often comes down to how it is taught."
