Businesses and youth organisations have more in common than you might think.

A big business with no demonstrable community involvement does itself no favours, and youth organisations have difficulty surviving without a degree of business acumen. But what is the best way for organisations to approach a company for support?

Work in harmony

Draw up a shortlist of the companies that appear to best mirror your ideals, suggests Nick van Breeman, appeals director for Weston Spirit, which will soon be benefiting from a 1m partnership with O2 (YPN, 3-9 November, p5).
