Alcohol: Underage drinking funds unclaimed

The Home Office made 350,000 available for operations to tie in with the football World Cup last summer, but only about 300,000 was allocated. The money was intended to be used for test-purchasing campaigns in pubs, bars and off-licences.

The figures were released to Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat MP for Sheffield Hallam, after he asked a Parliamentary question on the subject.

He told Young People Now: "Those who sell alcohol to minors should be held to account. It is disappointing not to see all available resources being used."
