
The £22m child and adolescent mental health service (CAMHS) will be based at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend. The Welsh Assembly Government has given the go-ahead and funding to the 14-bed scheme, which will provide a service seven days a week.
The unit will also have a five-bed emergency and high-dependency ward and will help young people with complex mental health problems, such as eating disorders and self-harm.
"There are a range of services to support children and young people living with mental health conditions, whether that be through GPs, education, social services, hospitals, the voluntary sector or specialist care," said health minister Edwina Hart.
