Defining wellbeing key to tackling exploitation

We've recently embarked on a partnership to help tackle child exploitation, working with Chicken Cottage to create safer spaces for children across the UK by training their staff and raising awareness of child exploitation among their customers.

But real change for exploited children must go beyond local initiatives, it requires a shift in national policy.

Right now, thousands of children across the UK face both exploitation and criminalisation – punished instead of protected.

So, the inclusion of a new offence specifically for child criminal exploitation (CCE) in the Crime and Policing bill is a crucial measure.

The creation of this offence could herald the moment when the focus shifts from victim blaming to targeting and prosecuting groomers and exploiters who perpetrate intolerable harms against our children.
