Youth offending teams await funding details amid concerns over ringfenced money

1 min read Youth Justice
Youth offending teams will be given an indication of how much central funding they will get for each of the next four years by the end of next week, the chief executive of the Youth Justice Board (YJB) has revealed.

The announcement comes amid concerns youth offending teams (YOTs) have been left in limbo without a clear idea of how much they will get to sustain services.

John Drew, chief executive of the YJB, told delegates at the YJB convention in Newport that his organisation has been made aware of the outline allocation for the next four years from the Ministry of Justice.

However, he added that the future of annual funding from the Home Office and Department for Education – worth around £71m last year – is unclear.

Remaining YOT funding is to be decided locally by local authorities, probation, police and health partners.
