Project: The Brent Youth Offending Team and Youth Culture Television programme

Mission: To provide a diversionary activity and give young offenders the chance to learn leadership skills

Funding: £4,000 from Youth Culture Television

Young offenders in Brent spent five weeks over the summer learning the tricks of the film trade and produced their own movie, in a bid to prevent re-offending. Brent Council's Youth Offending Team selected seven young people aged between 14 and 16 that it works with to take part in a programme run at the Youth Culture Television (YCTV) studios in Ladbroke Grove, London.

YCTV is an educational charity using television and programme production to advance the skills and personal development of young people between the ages of 11 and 20, who have had problems with school.
