Young people talk to minister about social mobility

1 min read Education Youth Work
Cabinet minister Liam Byrne will be joined by a group of young people this evening to discuss the potential impact of the government's new social mobility programme.

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Youth Affairs, chaired by MP Natascha Engel, is set to host the launch of the policy programme tonight. The group includes members of YMCA, YWCA, the British Youth Council and the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS)

Young people attending the meeting come from different backgrounds and parts of England. They are prepared to question the minister on Labour's proposals for apprenticeships, social services and education.

Engel said: "Our attention to social mobility is critical for young people to improve their chances at creating the life they want and deserve. This group's input is key to helping us shape policy for all young people."
