Young people launch sexual health campaign

Health Youth Work
Young people in the London Borough of Haringey are to run a campaign on chlamydia after receiving funding from the council.

Youth media group Exposure has secured £31,000 from the Community for Health Programme to run the ‘Get tested' initiative.

The group will use a range of media outlets, from web sites, to flyers and local radio, to promote the importance of chlamydia testing.

The campaign is aimed particularly at 16- to 24-year-old young men, who are most likely to get the sexually transmitted disease, and least likely to get tested.

Aysha Tegally, Exposure's campaign coordinator, said: "We're delighted to be doing this work. The message about chlamydia needs to get through to young people."
