
A joint inspection carried out by the Probation Inspectorate, alongside the Prison Service, Ofsted and the Care Quality Commission, rated the service as “good” overall, and found evidence of “very good” work taking place.
The youth offending team (YOT) achieved three out of four stars for four of the five key inspection areas – reducing the likelihood of reoffending, protecting the public, protecting children and young people and governance arrangements. It scored four out of four on ensuring sentences are served.
Liz Calderbank, chief inspector of probation, said staff were found to be committed to providing good quality services and achieving positive outcomes. They were also well-trained and supported.
