Unity Concert staged in wake of Camden killings

A concert is to take place in Camden later this month to promote unity among young people in the aftermath of two killings in the area in as many months.

The concert is being organised by housing association One Housing Group’s community youth officer Kamilah McCalman. It will focus on bringing together young people who attend different youth clubs in the area.

If follows concern about escalating gang and knife culture after the deaths of 17-year-old Sharma’arke Hassan, who was shot in Gilbey’s Yard, Camden, two months ago and Elliot Guy, who was stabbed in the area last month.

Young people from 20 youth clubs across Camden have been invited to the event, which will include performances from among others the rapper DJ Ironik.
