
Lindsay Levkoff Lynn, chief executive of Youth United Foundation, which distributed the funding on behalf of government, said latest figures show that more than 12,000 additional places have been created already since money was handed to 14 uniformed youth work organisations last year.
That represents 80 per cent of the target of 15,000 places by March 2016.
“We said we want to grow so we can serve at least 15,000 young people and we are really on our way,” Levkoff Lynn told CYP Now.
Funding was provided to the 10 organisations that are members of the Youth United Network, including the Scout Association, Girlguiding, and St John Ambulance.
