Teachers demoralised by Ofsted, says union

1 min read Education
Teachers are becoming demoralised by Ofsted's failure to recognise improvement in schools, according to the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL).

Malcolm Trobe, policy director at ASCL, told CYP Now that the watchdog’s new schools inspection framework, which launched this autumn, has raised the bar for schools. This means schools that have been working hard to improve are not being given grades that reflect their progress.

Trobe explained: "The fact Ofsted is making things more difficult is causing us concern. Schools have clearly got better since their last inspections but they are being graded the same."

He warned that some teachers were getting fed up of feeling like their work isn’t good enough.
