Takeover day proves popular with the young

More than 5000 children and young people took part in the first 11 Million Takeover Day, which was held last Friday.

The event, which was organised by the children’s commissioner for England, saw children and young people take control of businesses and organisations.

Two young people took over the role of the commissioner, Sir Al Aynsley-Green, and visited Manchester United’s football ground where young people were also in charge.

In Kirklees children as young as three and four got involved in running children’s centres.

They were able to take the register, help with the post and meals, and prepare activities for other children.
