Susie Roberts to retire from Chyps chief executive role

1 min read Youth Work
The chief executive of the Confederation of Heads of Young People's Services (Chyps) is to retire next spring.

Susie Roberts, who has been head of the organisation since 2006, announced her decision at Chyps' annual convention today. Roberts said that she felt the time was right after overseeing the renaming and restructuring of the organisation earlier this year.

Chyps was previously called the Association of Principal Youth and Community Officers but changed its name after members voted in favour of broadening its remit to include other professionals who have strategic responsibilities for youth work.

"It is largely for personal reasons that I'm retiring," said Roberts. "I could have stepped down when I turned 60 but wanted to see the restructure through. Now I feel that much of my vision for the organisation has been achieved."
