Strategic partnership to help disadvantaged young people

Disadvantaged young people living in areas of the North East hit by high unemployment are set to benefit from a new strategic partnership between a social housing provider and a youth charity.

Isos Housing and Keyfund will work together to help young people aged between 11 and 25 to develop the skills and confidence to achieve their ambitions.

The charity Keyfund will oversee the delivery of an established four-step personal and social development programme designed to empower young people in the postcode areas of Isos Housing residents.

Participants will be asked to conceive of, plan and cost a project that they present to a panel. The panel will award funding to the best ideas to complete the projects.

During the programme, participants will be encouraged to develop 12 key skills, including communication and conflict resolution.

Young people on previous Keyfund programmes sent football boots to Africa, completed an underwater litter pick and recorded an album.
