Students from Lambeth and Southwark College will take part in the Flexibility Programme, a collaborative scheme between three colleges, which will offer them the chance to live away from home and take part in work-based learning.
Students will split their time between their mainstream colleges in London, and Treloar College in Hampshire, which is the UK’s largest non-maintained specialist school for young people with disabilities.
Course modules will include, independent living skills, domestic skills, time and behaviour management, social skills, community skills and care routines. Students will also be expected to purchase groceries by themselves, cook meals and participate in social events.
