South Yorkshire early years providers offered post-Covid child development training

Early years providers in Yorkshire could benefit from a training programme to support families with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on child development.

The Positive Early Childhood Education (PECE) programme is being offered by the Sheffield University School of Education to early years and nursery settings across west and south Yorkshire willing volunteer to take part in a trial evaluating the scheme.

PECE has been developed in partnership with parenting programme Triple P which is funded by the Nuffield Foundation and run in conjunction with Leeds University.

Matt Buttery, chief of Triple P UK, said: “Early years staff play a crucial role in the lives of the babies and children they care for - and in turn we want them to be as supported as possible to form quality relationships, and help promote self-regulation for both themselves and the child.
