
Latest government figures show that Covid-19 rates in early years settings reached the highest on record last month with reported cases topping 5,000 in the week beginning 24 January.
Despite this settings are no longer required to report positive cases to Ofsted, the inspectorate announced yesterday (21 February).
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that from Thursday (24 February) people who test positive for Covid-19 will not be required to self-isolate and mass testing will end on 1 April.
Early years leaders have said that scrapping the requirement to report positive cases in settings will “relieve the administrative burden” for staff but have urged Ofsted and the Department for Education to support providers struggling with staff absences.
