The council’s cabinet has approved 15-year leases for LEYF to run the former children's centres.

The social enterprise already runs more than 40 nurseries across 12 London boroughs.

The council said the move has been taken “as part of a continued drive to deliver value for money services”.

The move will also generate income for the council as under the arrangement LEYF has sole occupancy of the sites and can expand the number of places it offers.

Hillingdon council’s deputy leader Jonathan Bianco said that the deal with LEYF “forms a part of our ongoing transformation and savings programme by delivering value for money for taxpayers by making best use of our assets, saving on running costs and generating income for the council”.
