Significant number of councils missed information deadline

The government has confirmed that a "significant number" of local authorities did not meet last week's deadline to provide content for a new information service for parents.

A letter to all authorities last week from the Department for Children, Schools and Families said: "For a variety of reasons, a significant number of local authorities have been unable to load a full set of childcare and family services records to the Parent Know How Directory by the 7 September deadline."

Last month, CYP Now revealed that many councils were struggling to meet the deadline.

The new directory is intended to transform the provision of support and information for parents with information on childcare and schools.
