Scouts appoints new chief executive

Scouts has appointed a former cub scout, who has also directed international youth events, as its next chief executive.

Aidan Jones, who also former chief executive of relationship support charity Relate, is to join the Scouts this month.

Jones first joined the Scouts as a cub scout, staying as an adult volunteer before taking senior roles within the global Scouting movement.

This includes a four-year stint as director of the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in Switzerland and chief operating officer of the World Scout Bureau for two years.

He was also executive director of scouting events EuroJam in 2005 and the Centenary World Scout Jamboree in the UK two years later.

His other global youth events roles have included running the careers focused WorldSkills events in London in 2011 and Abu Dhabi in 2017.
