Runaways guidance could be delayed

1 min read Social Care
Government guidance on young runaways, expected to be published in April, could be delayed until November.

The Young Runaways Action Plan, published in June last year, committed the government to revising the Department of Health's Missing from Care and Home guidance published in 2002, to reflect developments in children's services such as the Common Assessment Framework.

As part of the consultation on the draft guidance, the government is asking whether publication should be delayed until November, to take into account the recommendations of an emergency accommodation review. If publication is not delayed until November, the government will publish an electronic version in April and an amended hard copy once the review findings are known.

The April publication was planned to fit around the introduction of a new national indicator on runaways.
