
Pete Sims, a former youth worker at Bradford Council, wants legislation on local youth provision to be strengthened in order to better protect services for young people, but thinks that the minister for civil society "side-stepped" the issue during a Westminster Hall debate on the matter on Wednesday.
During the debate, Wilson, who holds the portfolio for youth services, told MPs he does not think that the government should tell local authorities how to deliver services for young people and thinks that Section 507B of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, which places a legal duty on local authorities to secure sufficient services and activities for 13- to 19-year-olds and young people under 24 with learning difficulties, is sufficient.
